Social Work Field Education

Field education as structured systems practice.

The social-work pathway combines university-approved field education, qualified field instruction, competency evidence, systems thinking, person-in-environment practice, advocacy, evaluation and professional formation.

Competency domains

The learner works with the person and the systems around the person.

Ethical and professional behavior

Professional identity, ethics, regulation, consultation, use of supervision and responsible records.

Human rights and justice

Advocacy, access, structural barriers, economic mobility, dignity and community accountability.

Anti-racism, diversity, equity and inclusion

Power, culture, identity, humility, bias, opportunity gaps and responsive practice.

Research and policy

Evidence use, program evaluation, policy analysis, systems change and translating data into action.

Engage, assess, intervene and evaluate

Relationship, person-in-environment assessment, intervention, coordination and outcome review.

Field-to-career transition

Career planning, licensure map, employment readiness, leadership and long-term professional development.

Separate the clocks

Field education and post-degree licensure supervision are related—but not the same.

No administrative fog

University field hours, employment hours, supervised practice for licensure, billing qualifications and internal Institute residency hours must be tracked in separate records and accepted only by the authority responsible for each requirement.

Make the next step a clear one

A skill to build. A team to strengthen.
A place to begin.
